12 Highlights from 2019

2019 was a big year for RogueMark. Before you break out the eggnog and start desperately scribbling a list of New Year’s resolutions, take a look at our highlights from the past year.

1. We explore new animation styles.
New projects with the Sapadilla Soap Company and eBay offer the opportunity to experiment with cut-paper, stop motion, and 2D animation.

2. The RogueMark Podcast launches!
Step aside, Ira Glass—there’s a new podcast in town, and you can listen to it here.

3. “The Mountain of Should” premieres at the New Parkway Theater.
Marisa, Abby, and Eliza also present the film at the Alt Summit Conference in Palm Springs. Next stop, Sundance? #dreambig

4. Abby writes a bomb article on how not to perpetuate patriarchal corporate bullshit.
The LinkedIn world geeks out and shares it all over the place. You should, too.

5. Beth and Marisa tackle graphic recording gigs sans Abby.
AKA Abby kicks them out of the nest. They create visual notes for Ernst & Young, UCSF, Salesforce, Amazon, and the End Well Foundation.

6. Vrinda returns to RogueMark!
As does former intern Amy, albeit briefly.

7. We create 131 visual notes at conferences, panels, strategy sessions, and more.
That’s up from 91 visual notes in 2018, and 62 in 2017. Huzzah!

8. Abby teaches visual communication workshops across the West Coast.
Clients include Amazon, Salesforce, General Assembly and the Acalanes School district.

9. Our projects highlight social justice.
Environmental racism, the pitfalls of the juvenile justice system, the fight for indigenous peoples’ human rights—just a few of the meaningful projects we worked on this year.

10. Marisa and Vrinda build a cardboard universe.
So mighty, so tiny. Look at those spires!

11. We redefine our cultural values.
We tackle the hard conversations and brainstorm how (and where) we want to grow, both individually and collectively.

12. Matchy Matchy.
Incidental or planned? It’s anyone’s guess.

Other highlights include:

  • We got a toaster oven. Our snacks have never been tastier. Or crunchier.

  • Dogs dogs dogs. Riley naps on the couch, Athena makes a toy out of a fuzzball, and Moo Moo eats trash. #doglife

Laughing yet? We sure hope so. As a bonus for sticking it out, here’s a list of our top songs of 2019:

  • Abby: “Sweet but Psycho” by Ava Max

  • Eliza: “Harvest Moon” by Poolside

  • Julia: “All Night” by Romare

  • Bethany: “Motion Sickness” by Phoebe Bridgers

  • Marisa: “I am not afraid” by Charley Crockett

  • Grace: “If You Keep Leaving Me“ by Anderson East

  • Vrinda: “On God” by Kanye West

Okay, that’s it. Thanks for reading, folks! Happy New Years, and holler at us with any animation, visual notetaking, or creative needs in 2020!
