The Marketing Power of Stop-Motion Animation


This year, we worked with the Sapadilla Soap Company, a brand of plant-based cleaning products that are made with 100% essential oils. Originally from Canada, Sapadilla is launching their products in the US this year and turned to RogueMark to create a series of stop-motion branded videos.

In a follow-up interview, Chief Marketing Officer Deb Kaylor describes the marketing value of this stop-motion advertising content for the Sapadilla brand.

What problem were you trying to solve with these videos?

Deb: We wanted video content that could introduce our products to consumers for our launch in the US. Because Sapadilla is a newer brand, we needed to create content that would get potential customers excited about our products.

Having seen RogueMark’s work previously, we felt that their quality of their storytelling was great, and that they’d be able to help us determine what type of animation content would provide the highest value for our budget.

What was the collaborative process like between Sapadilla and RogueMark?

Deb: It was great! We set out with a very clear brief. RogueMark administered the plan with no hiccups and the project was delivered on-time. They were even able to deliver on an expanded scope while keeping our original deadline.

What value do the videos have out in the world?

Deb: We started out thinking they’d be great content for our website and retailer-sites (like Amazon) and to help explain the Sapadilla products in general, but as we got the videos back, the quality and messaging exceeded our expectations. We’re currently using them for paid advertising spaces on social networks, but the quality is so strong, we’re confident we can use them on bigger paid media campaigns, like Youtube and even television.

What’s the feedback you’ve gotten on the videos from your intended audiences?

Deb: Externally, the feedback is super positive! The videos tell the Sapadilla story in a very clear and simple way. These videos stand up against our full-production Gorilla Glue commercials.

What was your favorite aspect of working with RogueMark?

Deb: The team was always so positive and fun and really put their full creative energy into bringing the Sapadilla brand to life. They were genuinely excited to receive and work with the products! That was really exciting for us.

Would you recommend RogueMark to other marketers, and if so, for what purpose?

Deb: Absolutely! If you’re looking for any kind of animation or stop-motion video content, RogueMark is a great resource to tell a brand story. They provide an incredible value for your marketing dollars. While RogueMark is a small agency, they run a seamless process.
